I honestly have no idea what I did, but yesterday morning I woke up with a very sore and swollen right knee.
Did I twist it in my previous run? Or is it from standing up most of the day on hard concrete? Or, did I awake in the middle of the night to fight off a horde of Evil Zombie Ninjas and just don't remember?
Ok, it's probably not that last one.
But seriously, I have no idea why my right knee is swollen and tender to the touch.
It can be hard to know when not to run
Sometimes you just have to call your run off.
It can be hard though, especially if you're like me always trying to preempt the inner couch potato that always attempts to talk you out of doing any type of exercise.
But just like a couple of weeks back when I woke to find a very sore foot with a splinter embedded in it, yesterday I decided to give my knee thee day off and let it heal up.
So instead of running, I decided on a mile and a half walk on the treadmill.
Easing back in
Tonight when I got back on the treadmill to run, I was hoping for the best.
The knee didn't really feel that much better, but while certain movements certainly did induce sharp pain, walking wasn't one of them.
However, by the 30 minute mark running at this week's target speed of 5.5 mph I was done, happy to have survived that long but very ready to end the run short of a 5k.
Hopefully my knee will feel much better tomorrow, and I'll be back to normal for my next run Monday morning.
That said, I am happy to say I completed run twenty today, which makes today's score: Shawn 1, Couch 0.
