Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

If there's one thing a runner has to have it's perseverance, as it's very often needed to complete a run.

Unlike casually walking or biking (neither of which I find very taxing) running with the goal of going faster and farther challenges us both physically can mentally.

And as many runners can attest, it's often pure perseverance and nothing else that keeps us going and gets us to the finish line.

Afternoon run

And that's what it took for me to complete my afternoon run yesterday.

I don't know why it was so hard to complete, especially since I had run for twice as long just a couple of days before.

But halfway through it became mentally and physically challenging to continue on at my slightly increased speed.

And that's where perseverance came in, as it was either give up on this week's goal or continue on despite the difficulty.

So I beat back the thoughts of slowing down and takin it easy, and continued on at this week's pace of 5.6 mph.

And as is always the case, once I completed my run I was very glad I had hung in there and finished run number twenty five at my new, slightly faster pace.

Yesterday's score was: Shawn 1, Couch 0.

And stats were: Time 30m, Dist 2.9, Cals 470, Steps 4975
