Headache and Heal Spur

My wife and I made a real pair this morning.

Monday night is podcast time for BandOfGamers.net, which usually means I get to bed a couple of hours later than normal.

16 05 17So it wasn't really a surprise when 4:30 am rolled around that I awoke with a headache.

Thankfully, my wife was very encouraging this morning so I didn't have a chance to talk myself out of running, especially since I knew she planned to run with a sore foot caused by a heal spur.

You know, I can't actually remember the last time I ran with a headache, and honestly I really don't want to remember this run, number twenty three, either.

While other pains seem to go numb when I run (like my still sore knee,) today it seemed like every other step resulted in a short but sharp increase in my headache.

Powering through it

I've talked before about how it can be hard to know when you're too injured to run, as many of us have a little voice in our head that will make up any excuse not to exercise.

But so far I've found it best just to go with my initial gut reaction, and this morning I felt not running due to my headache would've just been a cop-out.

So I powered through it, cranking my running playlist up and starting off with “Holding Out For A Hero.

Now this may sound corny, but I like to change the words to “Be A Hero.”

As in, go out there today and inspire others to become the best version of themselves by trying to be the best version of yourself.

Words to live by.

And speaking of running playlists, my wife told me yesterday she found some running playlists over at Amazon (here.)

I'll have to check them out later in the week, but in the mean time if YOU have a favorite running song I'd love to hear what it is! Just post it as a reply to this article 🙂

And with that said, onto today's score and my humble Fat Man Runs stats:

Today's score is: Shawn 1, Couch 0.

And today, the Fat Man Runs stats are: Pace 12:56, Time 44m, Dist 3.39, Cal 686, Steps 7149
