A Fat Man’s Running Shoes

Large, Wide, Durable, Comfortable.

After a year of walking and a few months of running my regular “off the shelf” sneakers were literally falling apart at the seams.

And as I was running daily, I figured whatever I purchased as replacements needed to be real, bonafide running shoes.

Since the only runners I knew at the time were my two daughters, I asked them what brands of running shoes I should check out, and they recommended ASICS.

Now I'd never heard of Asics before, so I jumped online and did a little research, and came away ordering a pair of ASICS Men's Gel-180 TR running shoes.

I primarily chose them because they came in “big” and “wide,” but also because they came in a very stylist “all black” version.

A few days later I was running in my very first pair of authentic running shoes, and I immediately noticed that these shoes were very, very comfortable.

And that wasn't just my opinion.

ASICS-Gel-180-Featured-ImageUnbeknownst to me, my Dad picked up a pair after seeing my recommendation online, and the first thing he said to me about them was how comfortable he thought they were.

But the most surprising thing is, after nearly three years and literally hundreds of 5K runs (both indoor and out) they are still comfortable! Truly!

That' not to say they're going to last forever though. In fact, just last week I noticed part of each sole is starting to coming apart.

But after all the abuse I put them though, I'm truly surprised they lasted so very long. I definitely got my money's worth.

So if you're looking to start walking or running and need a new pair of athletic shoes, I highly recommend checking out the ASICS GEL TR running shoes.

PS – I also have a pair of ASICS GT running shoes, but I find the back of the shoe is a little tight and uncomfortable, so I'll be replacing my 180's with the newer 190 models.

Shoes aside, today makes the fifteenth run and post since I launched my Fat Man Runs blog, and the score for today is: Shawn 1, Couch 0
