Fat Man Bikes

It was hard work going up, but so much fun coasting down!

16-05-29So you may remember a few days ago I talked about how much it sucked running uphill?

Yeah, well is also sucks riding my bike up that same hill!


If fact, even with all the different speeds my bike has, I still had to resort to weaving back and forth to get up some of those hills.

Note to self: Order a rear view mirror for your bike.

Biking was one of my teenage passions

16-05-29-Pic-2When I was a teen I use to ride my ten-speed everywhere. And some days I just rode all day long.

I think some of those long rides where on days immediately after Mom and Dad received my large CompuServe online / phone bills.

Those resulted in the lose of online privileges, which I have to say was a big bummer for a teenage computer geek in the early eighties.

Other times I'm sure I went on those long rides because I really had nothing better to do.

I was just another broke teen without a car or job, and since I lived in the “sticks” there was no Cable TV service to couch potato me..

Not so steady anymore…

Come to think of it, back then using the handlebars was optional.

I mean I really could ride my ten speed nearly anywhere by steering it with my body instead of my hands.

Well, that's certainly not the case anymore!

16-05-29-Pic-1I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that I'm riding a ten speed mountain bike versus a street bike, but I don't believe it does because my mountain bike has much wide wheels?

No, I'm pretty sure the reason I'm no longer able to ride with even one hand free is because of two things: I'm over the hill, and Fat.

But that said, I still enjoy riding my bike, hands free or not.

And while biking up that big old hill really did suck, man o man flying back down for 15 plus minutes was a real blast!
