After running three days straight, I knew I was going to need some time off.
I began last week by happily running three days in a row.
Happy until my knee swelled up to the size of a grapefruit.
So today, after four days off and the swelling nearly gone I got back out on the street with my wife and ran for forty plus minutes.
What's up with my knee?
With the cost of medical insurance rising so much over the last few years, it has just become un-affordable for us.
So without access to a specialist check out my knee, I'm going to have to rely on good old fashion guess work and intuition.
First, I believe my weight has been a huge factor, so if I want to be a healthy runner and run faster, I need to get on losing weight.
Next, I also believe part of the problem may be that lately I've been consuming a lot more salt than normal.
While my lovely bride doesn't think that has anything to do with it, I definitely didn't have the problem before I changed my lunchtime menu to something I could cook faster to I could get back to work quicker.
So this week I'm switching back to salads and sandwiches for lunch, and we'll see if this will help keep the swelling at bay.
